Tower Hill is a bulk shallow high-grade open pit opportunity located two kilometres north of the Gwalia mine. The area has seen intermittent mining take place since around 1898 with most recent operations stopping in 2003, with historical production totalling approximately 220,000 ounces.
Tower Hill project
The Tower Hill project is well underway. In September 2025, we received approval from Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration for stage one at Tower Hill. This approval means that Tower Hill is on target for mine development in FY27, with anticipated first ore in FY28.
Our approach
Our goal has always been to re-start sustainable production from a resource base which currently exceeds one million ounces.
We’ve made some great progress in our priority areas, including:
- The start of in-fill and extensional drilling programs
- Design and installation work for the dewatering pipework and pump configuration is out to tender
- Updating the reserves with lower costs using the 2.9 Mtpa Laverton mill and Genesis Minerals Services unique in-house open pit mining
- Feasibility study for regulatory approvals
During 2025, our progress on Tower Hill has included:
- Ongoing community and stakeholder engagement, including stakeholder impact assessments, community briefings and Shire meetings.
- Progress of the Leonora Shire community development agreement which will support the ongoing development of the town of Leonora to the benefit of all stakeholders
- Continued strengthening of our relationship with the Darlot Native Title group
- Early advice from the WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) that Tower Hill can be managed through the standard WA mining approval process.
- Continued technical work for development approvals, such as mine design, geotechnical, noise, dust, and blast impact assessments, hydrology and hydrogeology studies.
- Advancement of approvals and agreements for termination of the rail line to the south of the planned pit. We’ve continued engagement with the Western Australian government and stakeholders, and the rail termination schedule remains on target for completion in December 2027.
