The Tower Hill Project is a cornerstone growth asset, located approximately 1 kilometre north of the Gwalia mining centre near Leonora.
The project is being developed as a large-scale, open pit gold operation, underpinned by an Ore Reserve of approximately 1Moz (15Mt @ ~2.0 g/t). It forms a key part of our long-term production strategy within the Leonora district.
Tower Hill’s proximity to both Leonora and Gwalia townships presents a strong opportunity to engage with the local community, linking the region’s rich mining history with its next phase of development. As part of the planned expansion, sections of the existing railway infrastructure through Leonora will be removed and realigned, alongside the development of a new rail intermodal terminal south of Leonora to support ongoing regional logistics.
Resource and geology
Tower Hill is a bulk, shallow gold deposit within a highly prospective greenstone belt in the Leonora district, with a long and well-documented mining history spanning both underground and open pit operations.
Historically, the broader Tower Hill area was subject to underground mining dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, targeting high-grade quartz reef systems typical of the Leonora goldfields. This was followed by large-scale open pit mining through the 1980s and 1990s, which exploited near-surface mineralisation before the operation was placed into care and maintenance for more than two decades.
The deposit has since been systematically reassessed and incorporated into a modern, large-scale open pit development strategy.
Key characteristics include:
- Approximately 1Moz open pit Ore Reserve (15Mt @ ~2.0 g/t)
- Broad, continuous gold mineralisation suited to bulk open pit mining
- Structurally controlled ore zones with strong continuity from historical underground workings through to surface
- Favourable geometry supporting staged pit development
- Demonstrated history of production (~220koz historically mined)
- Strong potential for resource growth and reserve conversion through ongoing drilling
Site establishment activities recommenced in March 2026, with clearing and initial earthworks marking the transition from care and maintenance into active development. Early works are expected to continue through initial construction phases into early 2027.
Mining and development approach
The project is designed as a conventional open pit mining operation, utilising:
- Large-scale excavator and haul truck fleets
- Drill and blast methods to optimise fragmentation and recovery
- Staged pit development to balance capital efficiency and production
Development is expected to leverage internal mining capability, supporting improved cost control and execution certainty.
